Lemons

My gorgeous friend left me a text message that she had dropped a gift at my front door this morning. Two garbage bags full of lemons is what I found. This is the second time in the last 6 weeks she has been kind enough to treat me in this way. Seriously, how lucky am I to have such generous people in my life?

We go through so many lemons in our house – probably 12 -24 per week. We use them for everything from drinks, to salad dressings to mains. We love lemon! It’s currently citrus season in Oz so the trees are just bursting with fruits. I swear we are so spoiled for produce in this country. I literally don’t know how I will adjust when we move somewhere else and have to buy fruit and veg shipped in from another country or continent.

  1. That’s amazing you have so many lemons! That’s way more than what you can get in California!

    • Oh I expect there’s a lot of citrus in California. We lived in LA about 15 years ago and I definitely remember plenty of avocados and citrus fruits. I think Australia is unique with our proximity to Asia and therefore we have a massive array of beautiful fruit and veg.

      • Oh yeah. Avocadoes and citrus define California! Australia does sound amazing being so close to Asia and getting quality food from there!

  2. Wow! Those look gorgeous. They also freeze gorgeously after being cut to an appropriate size and then can be saved for non citrus season and/or used as flavorful ice cubes.
