We drove from Melbourne to Sydney

on a road that cut through the bush.

We found gum trees a plenty

and we weren’t in much of a rush.

Driving through the rural country

on our way we found

a yellow kangaroo crossing sign

and out they jumped with a bound.

They hopped across the street

without any care in the world.

The horns honked, the cars swerved

but the roos were caught unaware.

If you’ve ever driven on the roads down under

you’ll surely know what I mean.

A typical day of kangaroo blunder

is a common sight to be seen.
